More than an event space

More than just an event space, Het Souterrain is a space with a story. The building in which The Soutterain is located was built in 1634 and originally served as a guardhouse for soldiers and city guards who guarded Groningen's northern border. This historical past is still tangible and visible in the space.

Although the hall is partly underground, daylight still streams in. Also, part of the old city wall is still visible and forms an impressive backdrop. These historical elements, combined with a modern and stylish interior, give The Souterrain a unique atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.
