The Souterrain is more than just an event space, it is a space with a story. The building in which The Souterrain is located was built in 1634 and originally served as a guardhouse for soldiers and city guards who guarded the northern border of Groningen.
This historical past is still tangible and visible in the space. A part of the old city wall is still visible and this forms an impressive decor. These historical elements, combined with a modern and stylish interior, give The Souterrain a unique atmosphere that you will not find anywhere else.
